Get Inspired, Try Mindfulness Photography This Season
Whether it’s poetry, paintings, photos, music, sculptures or dance, engaging with the arts can be great for wellbeing.
An art form I love to dabble in is photography. One reason I find it so interesting is that with photo taking we are given the chance to consider both the seer, the seen and the experience of seeing as a whole. It’s really very rich ground for mindfulness and self discovery. And as so many of us have camera phones these days, it’s an accessible art form to experiment with for fun.
I love the work of Aussie National Portrait Prize winner Liz Looker. She used to shoot fashion campaigns but now does a variety of portrait work where she aims to capture not just the person, but the invisible self. But what is the invisible self? And what does this all mean for you and your interest in art, wellbeing or mindfulness?
