The National Gallery X Emma Mills London Art Meditations
The National Gallery X Emma Mills London Art Meditations
A relaxed day-off often creates the perfect window for enjoying the beautiful things in life; an open invitation to let go of day-to-day lifes hand and wander freely.
For you, that might entail a visit to your local art gallery or exhibition centre. Or you might like to try your hand at something creative too, such as writing, woodwork or even flower arranging.
Sometimes simply being outside among the elements offers more beauty than we could shake a stick at. The appreciation of natural beauty and of art is a great form of meditation. Just like conventional practices, beautiful things offer us an express ride to our center.
For example, we might spot a beautiful painting, bird or sunrise; then and there, we experience a brief moment of peace. Time stops and we are stilled – entirely in awe and positively lost in beauty.
Wow.
On that note – let’s go to the gallery!
A New And Exciting Collaboration
Earlier this year I was beyond excited to receive an invitation to share a meditative collaboration with The National Gallery In London.
I’ve been exploring themes of both beauty and being in my work for a number of years and it’s been lovely to be able to bring those two notions together in this summers collaboration at the gallery.
Wonderfully, tickets to this event are complimentary courtesy of the gallery, so do book a place as soon as you know you’d like to join.
(Note: This Event is fully booked)
About: Meditations on the beauty of being
How can the experience of being with a painting open us to a greater sense of calm, self-connectedness, and inspiration? Join meditation practitioner, poet and lecturer Emma Mills, as she leads a refreshing session exploring the meditative qualities of art.
Using some of our Spanish paintings as a starting point, we will explore the practice of receptive viewing and discuss the experience of beauty within ourselves and in the every day. You will discover companion poetry and have the opportunity to reflect on the work and the way it evokes your own thoughts around identity, beauty and self-understanding, putting pen to paper with some journaling exercises.
