Art Nature Meditation and Transcendence in The Cotswolds

Nature’s beauty, works of art and meditation all have something in common. They all have the power to collapse the sense of separation we feel between ourselves, others and the wider world. The power to awaken the transcendental within us.  Or as the poet Milosz, in the poem pictured below says:

to take us ‘to the edge where there is no I’

Artists and writers often point to the great stillness of presence through their work and in this sense, poems are like little shots of meditation. Poems, paintings and great nature scenes have the power to bring a great deal of beauty fueled wellness into you life. And the good news is you don’t have to be an arty person to enjoy the benefits, you just need an open mind and the willingness to discover something new.

I’m interested to know, where do you go when you want to look at lovely art work, or hear great music and poetry? Do leave a comment and let me know about your favourite places to visit. I always love hearing what you have to say

Photos: These photographs were taken on a trip to Chedworth in the Cotswolds, late Summer 2021. We stopped at a beautiful little old pub for lunch (I think it was called The Seven Tuns.) The view from the roof terrace garden was lush! Someone else clearly thought so too and had chosen to create a painting of the beautiful hilltop view. I spotted their painting accompanied by a little poem, pinned up on the wall inside the pub. So charming!
