Forest Meditation With PEFC International

It was a lovely end to the week discovering sustainable forest management on a field trip with PEFC International to The Crown Estate, seeing its impact on biodiversity, forest regeneration and climate change mitigation.

I was glad to learn more about sustainable fashion and forestry and to share a beautiful forest meditation with the group. A chance to slow down, take a breather, find calm and soak up the beauty of nature before heading back to the city.

Many of us know that being in nature is good for our wellbeing, but the benefits can also flow out into our creative practice. Interestingly, for the ancient Greeks, The Muse (Goddess of art and inspiration) wasn’t just related to museums or cultural life. The Muse was something to be found in the forests, natural springs and woodlands. The job of the creative then is to go out into those places, become quiet and listen openly to natures inspiration. Before returning to civilization, steeped in magic, and bringing that beauty back with them to enjoy with others.

All the more reason to love and look after our lovely forests.
